Virginia Beach Area Information

Virginia Beach has miles of sand and surf to enjoy, heritage sites and state parks to explore, and a hotel-lined boardwalk to stroll along.

Forever marking its place in American history in 1607 as the site of the English colony’s first landing, this coastal city is richly filled with historical attractions. Built in the late 1700’s, Cape Henry Light House still stands tall as the marker for the English’s crossing to the “new world”. The late 1800’s brought the beginning of the oceanfront staple – the city’s three mile (4.8 kilometer) long boardwalk. Shortly after becoming known as a resort destination, VA Beach was incorporated as a town in 1906 and grew throughout the 20th century into the vacation hub it now is. Today’s visitors can enjoy great spots for surfing and oceanfront fun, a ride on the Ferris wheel at the retro beach-side amusement parks, hiking trails in the gorgeous outdoors, making a splash at a waterpark, and much more.
